Hubby flew home just in time for his birthday last week, which is always exciting because we miss so many holidays and celebrations due to his job. I have mentioned this often when I talk about hubby, but there are three foods that he loves most in this world: meat, yogurt and ice cream. So naturally I had to supply him with ice cream in lieu of a birthday cake!
The thing about hubby is that he has a very open personality. If you’re close, you may find him reaching across the table and eating right off your plate. That took me some getting used to until I realized it was just his sharing character. These days we often just have a communal plate and it works well because our food preferences complement each other. I eat meat sparingly, whereas he is a carnivore, and I love veggies, but him not so much. So on any given plate he will eat most of the meat, I will eat most of the veggies, and we are both happy campers. But if there is something we both love…more often that not, he wins.
Do you guys have things that your significant other steals from you? Besides my food, my hubby likes to steal my sunglasses, my cuticle cutters and tweezers (random huh!), and my cash to use at his work’s snack bar. Other things we politely “fight” over are his mom’s chocolate chip cookies, the camera if we only brought one, and the laptop if we’re both on the road at the same time. It’s hilarious when you really think about the random things they like to “borrow” from you. Check out the “So Good He Steals It” infograph at the bottom of the post. It gave me a good chuckle because everything is sooo true of me and my hubs. We even use two separate blankets when we sleep because one will inevitably steal from the other haha.
The good thing about hubby’s plate-reaching and “borrowing” is that it makes me very aware of what his likes and dislikes are, so when I want to spoil him I know just how to. For his birthday I wanted to supply him with at least one thing he wouldn’t have to borrow and could have to his heart’s content, so I put together this “ice cream cake.” Yummy for hubby, easy for wifey, and enjoyed by all. Skinny Cow seems to be generally accepted as a female ice cream product, but my hubs loves them. They’re definitely meant to be enjoyed by all, and their new chocolatey dipped ice cream sandwiches are uh-mazing guys. The perfect trifecta of ice cream, wafer cookies and chocolatey goodness. There are three delish flavors and I recommend trying them all: Vanilla Bean Dream, Ultimate Chocolate, and Creamy Caramel. Find out where to buy them near you HERE. Then check out our little birthday celebration below and tell me: what does your significant other like to steal from you?

I've never tried this kind of Skinny Cow desserts before, they look so good! My husband also loves meat, and I usually like the sides more–so I guess we complement each other too! As long as he doesn't steal too much of my chocolate 🙂

heheh how funny. Happy birthday to him! 🙂 Mine is this weekend. 🙂 KC and I go back and forth on what type of food we want. Sometimes it's really opposite, sometimes it's similar. So we occasionally share, or not depending on where we are. We usually "fight" (not really) over the ipad. We only have one. He uses it to skype an out of town friend in for "guys night" and I am always using it to read kindle books. haha Recently he's been reading books I have finished and enjoyed a lot. Which is funny, because he was never much of a reader. But he's been reading quite a few. Now he is on a sequel that I haven't read. I find myself jealously glancing over at the book.. haha I just want to read it too! In general I am continuing to find as friends start watching Gilmore Girls their hubbys pop in and inevitably end up loving it even more than the women do! haha They like to think they won't like GG… but it's so good, they usually end up loving it as well!
