Snowboarding in Whistler

So last year I picked up snowboarding. My husband is ecstatic about it and we’ve been hitting the slopes as much as is humanly possible when you don’t actually live near any mountains. Our last trip was a week-long excursion in Whistler, after which I strained my back. Three weeks later and my back still isn’t 100%, so now I’m sitting in a Park City hotel writing this blog post while hubby takes care of his monthly ski itch. (Just kidding, it’s a never ending itch.) Our Whistler trip was honestly awesome, though, so I’m finally sharing some of it today. Keep scrolling!

The awesome thing about Whistler is that the mountains are so insanely tall that snowboarding back to the bottom could easily take me 45 minutes. It’s so much more fun snowboarding on a mountain where you’re actually spending most of your time on the slopes instead of in line for the lift. The place is massive and it has something for everyone. The chances of us going back next year are mega.

My journey started last year when my hubs was deployed. I had won this amazing trip to an Olympic viewing party in Park City, and he returned from deployment literally in the nick of time to be my plus one. About a month before that, I signed up for a few snowboarding lessons so that I’d be ready for our trip. It was the most amazing four days. They set up a lounge in the hotel with TV’s playing the Olympics 24/7 and tons of sponsored treats like Sahale Snacks, Coca-Cola, smartwater, etc. Every day we’d stop by the lounge and I’d stuff my pockets with snacks before hitting the slopes. Maybe that’s why I love eating Sahale Snacks when I snowboard.

On our way to Whistler, I stopped at my Walgreens to grab a couple bags of Sahale Snacks and some smartwater, and brought them with me on the slopes for old time’s sake. I’ve realized that I am at Walgreens a ton; hubs and I always stop in for a quick drink and a snack. You can make some great snack pairings like Pringles to go Sour Cream and Onion + Cherry Coke or Kind Bars + vitaminwater, or even Kellogg’s Cereal (Happy Inside Cereal) + Fairlife Yup. What are your favorite snack/drink pairings?

Certain activities just make you crave certain snacks or bevs, and for me it’s been the above. Scroll a little more for a coupon!

We stopped to take these photos on our last run one day about a quarter of the way down the mountain. I found my favorite trail pretty quickly, and one day marked this spot as a place to come back for photos. Despite my aching back, I’m so glad hubby got me into a winter sport so that I can have moments like these. I hate being cold, so I always complain that I hate winter, but how can you hate this.

Okay, so for all you fellow snackers, Save $1 when you buy any two (2) participating products. Find your favs at Walgreens. Click the photo below to get a digital coupon in the Walgreens app. The deal lasts from 1/27 – 3/30.  Happy Snacking!

So fun that you picked up snowboarding! I LOVE it! And it kills me that I don’t get to go regularly, though I did manage to go last year. Whistler is SO on my list!

Yeah it finally became fun this year now that I’m improving! It sucks when you don’t live near any mountains though, for sure. You should definitely do Whistler sometime, we were surprised by how much we loved it <3
