Check out Part I and Part II of my journey.
In my last post, I talked about how my goals when I picked up this book were to slim down slightly and increase my overall health. I actually have slimmed down by 4 pounds and I’ve adopted some healthier habits.
I think just learning from the book more about how the food I’m ingesting actually affects my body was empowering. We all know basic health principles, but it was nice for me to learn what exactly certain foods are doing for me and why and when to eat them.
For example, the book says this about berries:
“Antioxidant-rich berries can help reduce your overall stress, which can help you get better rest…They’re rich in phytonutrients that protect cells, preventing damage and reducing the risk of cancer…”
and “Blueberries are reported to be particularly good for fat burning…Plus, researchers…found that eating blueberries may also accelerate muscle recovery when combined with exercise.”
It’s nice to know I’m getting all kinds of little benefits just from eating a handful of blueberries!
Along with these tidbits of knowledge, I also really enjoy the meal plans and recipes the book provides, it makes it easy to follow the plan. There is a huge variety of colorful meals, like the Cheesy Ground Beef Skillet below. I personally can recommend the Braised Cuban Flank Steak which was easy and delish.
Make sure you check out my last two posts. I talk more about my journey to be healthier and explain more on what this book is all about.
