The Ultimate Ham Sandwich

I’ll tell you the secret right off the bat: pesto mayo. The creamy, basil-y, garlicky combination is quite delightful. But the other secret to a good sandwich is, of course, using good ingredients. But back to that in a sec. You may know that my hubby is a pilot, and I’ll say that he is very good at what he does, but…he is also extremely forgetful. The man has left his mark on the world merely from his knack for accidentally leaving things behind in other countries, and I can’t even begin to talk about how many expensive pairs of sunglasses he has lost. So you can imagine how often that boy of mine forgets to prep lunch. His favorite meal is a club panini that he has requested so often I can rattle off his specific list of ingredients by memory. I didn’t remake that recipe today, but I took what I consider to be it’s key ingredient: that delightful pesto mayo. That, and a few other quality ingredients can make the ultimate ham sandwich.

My quality ingredients are: Pepperidge Farm® Whole Grain 15 Grain bread, Hillshire Farm® Thin Sliced Honey Ham, Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise, good pesto, and fresh tomatoes and greens. I went through a few loops to get my hands on this precious Pepperidge Farm bread. Since their bread is made on the east coast and to ensure that the carefully double-wrapped loaves are always fresh, fresh, fresh, they are harder to come by west of the Mississippi. You can find all of these delicious items readily available at your local Walmart. Hillshire Farm®’s ham stands a cut above other hams because it is roasted for hours and hours for a better-tasting product, and Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise is awesome because it is made with real, simple ingredients (eggs, oil and vinegar) and uses cage-free eggs. All of these virtues combined are what make this the ultimate ham sandwich, and a perfect light and easy meal. Even when hubby forgets his lunch, this is something I can whip up in literally no time at all.

Do you have any of your own sandwich tricks? Like mixing your mayo with other ingredients? There are so many delicious things you can do with good ham, bread, and mayo. Go check out tons more ways to sandwich at this sandwich paradise hub.

I've never been a big fan of pesto, except when mixed with pasta, but the pesto mayo sounds delicious, and I'm sure the mayo will add the creaminess which I love in a sandwich:)

This looks so tasty! Too bad I've already eaten lunch – maybe we'll have this for dinner tonight! #client
