Always Eat After 7PM: Part IV

Uncategorized June 16, 2020

This post is sponsored by “Always Eat After 7 PM.” All opinions are completely my own.

Check out Part I , Part II , and Part III of my journey.

Hey guys, this will be my last post in this series. I’m really happy with where I’m at right now with my health goals. I mentioned in my past posts that my goals when I started my journey were to slim down slightly and improve my general health (eg remove some unhealthy habits like binging on snack food and replacing them with healthy habits). I have indeed slimmed down by about 4 lbs, which is huge deal for me considering my weight doesn’t fluctuate much. I think just seeing that change has given me the motivation I need to maintain healthy changes in my diet.

It all started when I read this book, Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion (now available to purchase!). The first step in their plan is the 14-day Acceleration Phase, which is meant to drastically cut calories for 2 weeks so that you get rapid results, giving you the motivation to keep going. This was actually a little too much for me, I don’t have the eating discipline to do that for an extended period. The book does support this narrative:

“Fact is, most diets are extremely narrow with regard to food choices and variety, and many even limit entire macronutrients altogether over the course of the entire program (think low-carb and low-fat diets). Three months with no carbs? No thanks. Such practices not only are entirely unnecessary, but make for a miserable, unsustainable experience.”

So I was only did the first stage for one week, but that was enough for me to feel empowered. After that, you enter the Main Phase, where you raise your caloric intake and learn exactly which foods to eat when in order to achieve your weight-loss goals. I’m still in that stage. I don’t necessarily want to shed any more pounds, but I want to decrease my body fat percentage. But after that, you enter the Lifestyle Phase where you keep the weight off for good. The plan makes sense and makes dieting easy, eliminating 90% of reasons for resistance.

My plan to maintain the changes I’ve made is to check in with myself often and look back to the book for motivation. Just reminding myself of all the facts and benefits behind eating certain foods has been extremely motivating to me. How have you guys been doing this quarantine? Any tips or experiences you want to share? If you’re interested in the book, check out this website where you can learn more and purchase.
