It’s already mid-February, so I’m obvi a little late with my New Year’s post, but I’ve been busy and that’s a good thing. As I start this, I’m sitting in an Airbnb in Merced, California, a city I’d never heard of before a month ago. It’s a good representation of my past year as a whole, because my 2020 took me all kinds of places I never planned on going, figuratively and literally.
I looked back at last year’s New Year’s post. I didn’t meet the goals I set at the time but I’m okay with that because I still accomplished a lot.
My 2020 Highlights:
- Moving to Las Vegas.
- Finding more time for my Instagram/blog and doing more passion projects. Someone called me a “sell-out” for mostly doing sponsored posts, and they were not wrong. For a long time, I just got too busy for the kitchen projects I craved working on, but bit by bit I’ve started making more time even if it means losing sleep.
- Visiting Hokkaido before the pandemic hit. And Whistler.
- Living near family for the first time in 8 years.
- Visiting DC for the first time.
- Leaving a man who could not treat me right.
The other day, a friend sent me a picture he took of a journal entry from over 10 years ago. It said, “I went running with Gina Walker…she is…so nice, really pretty too…I can tell she is a really good person.” Haha that was nice of him to send that to me, it got me thinking about what I was like back then and gave me a bit of a confidence boost. I seem to hear a lot lately that I seem like a good person, ie at least that’s what my Bumble boys tell me haha. I have so many things I want to do in 2020, but my only real goal is to continue placing people around me who will remind me that I’m nice and a good person. I think 2021 will be an okay year. Happy New Year.
