Nautical Gift for Father’s Day + Sweepstakes

Uncategorized June 18, 2015

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opnions are of course my own ๐Ÿ™‚ #NauticaforDad #CollectiveBias

Hey guys, here is a fun Father’s Day gift idea for any of you last-minute-ers (totally me). My own pops isn’t into boats or anything but I like this nautical theme because it can work for any father; just play around with the theme of our fathers being our “anchors” or our “life savers.”

I picked up this Nautica Voyage cologne at Macy’s while in San Francisco and used it as my inspiration. Their tagline is “Know No Boundaries,” which made me think of all the fatherly figures in my life: my Dad, my gramps, my father-in-law, and my hubs (father of my fur babies!). They are all military veterans and I thought about how they spent their lives having to leave their families on “voyages.” My own dad did a full 22 years in the Army and I was only 8 when he retired. After my dad’s very last “voyage” to Korea, he worked as a physician and was able to be home at 5pm every night. One of those nights I realized that I had a project due the next day where I had to make a solar system. (My procrastination is about as bad now as it was when I was 8 haha.) My dad didn’t get mad, he just took me out to the garage, scrounged around and found some crafty stuff, and helped me put together my solar system. I remember thinking he was some sort of magician, making a cool solar system out of all the random stuff in our house. That’s why dads are our “life savers” ๐Ÿ™‚
Do you guys have any life-saver memories of your dad?

Anyways I built around these inspirations and put together a nautical Father’s Day gift idea for your guys. Here is all you need:

  • Nautica Voyage fragrance gift set
  • wrapping paper
  • dock rope (got mine at a supermarket, but I’ve also seen similar ones at Michael’s)
  • sugar cookies decorated like life savers (or if you lack the time, just use the candy!)
  • 4×6 inch clear plastic gift bags
  • personalized sayings printed on Kraft cardstock
  • stapler

And the rest is pretty straight-forward if you look at my photos. I don’t think anyone needs a tutorial on how to wrap a gift, but if you want pointers on the cookie packaging let me know!

Guys, make sure you check out Nautica’s social hub HERE and enter their #NauticaForDad sweepstakes at the bottom of the post! You could win a $4,000 cruise vacation or some Nautica cologne of your own! Um count me in.

These cookies are the cutest!! This story about you and your dad is so sweet. My dad worked nights when I was a kid, so I think that made it harder for him to bond with us like that when we were super little. When I left for college though (my mom had had my youngest sister just a year before) all of a sudden my dad was texting me, emailing me, etc. He called one day, I thought something was wrong! and he just said "So, have you ever had that Las Vegas roll at that sushi place?" lol! I was just like what?!? He also, for some reason, thinks it's really funny to bring up big news type items wayyy after the fact. For example, he will just walk in the house and say, "Did you guys hear Michael Jackson Died?!" – like he's totally baffled. It's so funny. They are getting ready to move from KS to Phoenix next Tuesday morning (*sobs*) and I found some Michael Jackson trading cards … I'm thinking of ways to mail them and leave them at their house when we go to visit to make him laugh. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love your cookies. XO -Alexandra

This is such a cute story of you and your dad. These moments are what really matter and mean so much to us as we get older. I really love this idea. My dad is really into soccer and his face just lights up when someone talks about it. Great post!
