I’m a big believer that even the most consistent of exercisers needs to change up and re-energize their routine sometimes. Early last year and a few years prior I was all about running. Even on my lazy days I enjoyed doing a few leisurely miles outside and did a few races that I felt were worth my money. In the latter half of 2015 I suddenly started to dislike it and instead began going to the gym and doing heavy lifting with my hubby. I’m a bit fickle and need a healthy amount of change in my exercise routine to keep me motivated and energized.
This year I have a goal to get into nature more often. Not only are there awesome ways to get fit in nature, but it’s nice bonding time for me and hubby and a good opportunity to practice photography. This past weekend we did a bit of hiking in Napa Valley and were pleasantly surprised with the choice of trails there. It was a decent workout and made me wish I could do that kind of stuff every day in place of the gym. But still, I’m excited about my goal because it is about the easiest little change that will help stimulate my workouts. My inspiration for today’s post is goodnessknows® snack squares. Their tagline is “goodness to greatness” which is exactly what I’m going for with my small goal. They made a perfect companion on our little hike adventure–just a water bottle and some goodnessknows® snack squares is all we took for an energy snack.
I already have a list of other fun things I want to do over this next month or so. Do you have any similar plans? And what are things that you have done in the past–would love ideas!
-hiking and kayaking in Hawaii
-biking the neighborhood
-skating in NYC
-rock climbing
For your own future adventures you can grab all three flavors of goodnessknows® snack squares near the registers at Walmart: goodnessknows® Cranberry, Almond, Dark Chocolate, goodnessknows® Apple, Almond & Peanut, Dark Chocolate, and goodnessknows® Peach & Cherry, Almond Dark Chocolate. Have you tried them yet? Which is your favorite?

Loved your post and the pictures were beautiful! I am lucky to live on farmland and be surrounded by some wooded areas. Before a car accident, my dogs and I hiked them daily and my husband and I walked the nearby plowed fields searching for Indian arrow heads. Good exercise and like treasure hunting too! I hope to be able to do more of this in the future and when warmer weather returns to us. Thanks for an awesome Giveaway as well!

Before I became handicapped and gained weight, hubby and I used to hike every weekend. I am trying hard o get enough strength back to do it again. I really miss it.

An adventure in the mountains with nothing but a water bottle and some treats. Sounds soooo divine. I wish I lived near some mountains, this really takes me back to the times I went hiking in New Zealand. <3

Ugh. Fitness has been so difficult for me since getting married! / leaving college. I was such a good walker, I walked everywhere and did yoga twice a day. The struggle has been real. I would LOVE to go hiking and also kayaking. I really want kayaking to meet part of my goal to "seek water" I just have to figure out where on earth you can rent them here. 🙂 I would love to do things like that with KC, the opportunities are just a little harder to see. 🙂 I haven't seen those bars before, I'll have to keep an eye out! Hiking is the BEST way to get exercise! It's pretty cold here right now, so I'm wimping out for the next few months haha. Definitely going to get back into it in spring! Also your hiking outfit is too cute.

I love North Face jackets! This ones color is so vibrant and stunning; it looks great on you and definitely just made its way to my shopping wish list 🙂
Hiking and kayaking are two of my favorite things (I have a goal of accomplishing 24+ hikes this year!), so doing both in Hawaii would be an absolute dream. Hope you get to accomplish these goals!

Yay for getting out in the nature more! I'm already doing barre, but want to add yoga and LIGHT running. I despise it and always have, but want to try and get a little running in during my off days from barre.
