When we lived in Texas many years ago, it was interesting to drive down our suburban street and hear the same football game playing through the open windows of every home we passed. Oklahoma has a similar vibe, most days I’ll hear people in my office chatting about the latest game and joking about rival teams. Hubby and I recently had our own little homegating party. We only see each other on the weekends, so all week I hyped him up about what food I was going to make come Saturday because obviously my favorite thing about football is the food. I decided on sliders topped with tons of spicy sautéed onions, fried meatballs with garlic marinara for dipping, lots of chips and salsa, and ginger lemonade. I have no recipes to share because I eyeballed everything, but I’m excited to share a lot of new favorite products I used. It’s literally my favorite thing when I discover new delicious foods and it makes me want to share them with everyone. I’ve worked with Babbleboxx once before, what they do is send out curated themed boxes with a variety of products and brands, and I’m always blown away by the quality of the products they choose. I can’t wait to share why these are all new favorites, keep reading to become converted:
I used the same meat mixture for both my sliders and meatballs. It’s made with ground beef, Dorot Gardens crushed garlic, lots of 4C breadcrumbs and 4C parmesan cheese, eggs, and salt and pepper. Hubs helped me with it and our teamwork paid off, it turned out so juicy, cheesy and delish. I baked the meatballs in the oven first and then battered them again with the 4C breadcrumbs before frying. They’re so good, but only complete when you dip them in marinara sauce.
I didn’t know about 4C before, so I was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of their products, they’re delicious. Justin was legit eating their parmesan cheese straight out of the jar it was so good. Actually, I got mad at him for using his bare fingers *eye roll*. Their parm cheese is 100% just cheese, not even preservatives or anything extra. The breadcrumbs are blended with all kinds of yummy herbs, spices, and 100% pecorino Romano cheese, so it added extra flavor. It’s good stuff.

This is RAGÚ’s new Simply™ Roasted Garlic Sauce. It has no added sugar and uses 100% olive oil. I love, love a simple marinara sauce, it allows you to appreciate the chunky tomatoes. There are so many football party recipes you can make with a good sauce. I considered meatball subs, but I’m glad I did the fried meatballs this time. They were seriously delish dipped into this new RAGÚ sauce.

The sliders I topped with generous spoonfuls of Big Lou’s Onion Sauce. It’s much less sauce and much more onion, as in, it’s literally sautéed onions. I’ve become pretty obsessed with this stuff. It’s really yummy and so versatile. You could also throw it on nachos or start a pasta sauce or stir-fry with it, but for us it took our sliders to the next level.

Late July is a brand I’ve been seeing around a lot lately (most recently in my coworker’s going-away gift), so I’m probably just late to the game. Their chips are organic, non-GMO Project Verified, gluten-free, vegan, kosher and 100% whole grain. We tried these Lime and Sea Salt Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips with their Thick & Chunky Medium Salsa. They’re a perfect pair, I enjoyed the simple, quality ingredients. We actually broke them open long before our football fiesta because we couldn’t wait.

For the ginger lemonade, I squeezed out the juice of 4 lemons and made a syrup with that, sugar, and 5 cubes of Dorot Gardens crushed ginger. I split it between two glasses and then filled them up with sparkling water. It turned out so good and was so easy! I feel like I’m again so late to the game with Dorot Gardens because I see them everywhere, but I am so in love with them! They’re prep-portioned cubes of frozen crushed ginger (same for the crushed garlic I used in the meat mixture) that you can just pop out to use in whatever. It’s hard to keep ginger on hand all the time, so sometimes I’ve resorted to using ground ginger in a pinch, which I don’t love doing, so it’s nice to instead be able to keep fresh crushed ginger on hand in the freezer!
