I read through my Best Recipes of 2018 post. I tend to use this annual post to skim over my last year, assess the ups and downs, and take time to appreciate my growth. Last year, I said that 2019 felt like it might be my best and it turned out to be so. My only goal was to land a developer job, which I did. This time, it’s really easy to pick out all of the highlights of the past year:
- Coding Bootcamp. I missed my baby kitties terribly, but it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time.
- My new job. I applied for 3 jobs right out of bootcamp and was lucky to land the one that I was most interested in. I have been so fortunate with a great boss, flexible time off, and the opportunity to write recipe articles for our company’s magazine.
- Moving to Oklahoma City. It’s tough living apart, but overall it’s probably improved the quality of our lives because Justin has a reason to escape the country most weekends.
- Justin landing his C-17 in Utah. It was a a random, welcome coincidence that he could visit on a low-stress work trip while I was living in Utah. (The likelihood of a C-17 from his base ever landing in Provo, UT again? Probably never.)
- Improving my snowboard skills. I’m still a noob, but I thought I would never be able to control where I’m going.
- First family reunion.
- Hawaii trip. We adopted a dog for a day (she was fully adopted not long after we flew home!), ate lots, hiked a bit, accidentally went to a nudist beach, pet baby goats, etc.
- Bought a couch
It was the best year ever. My goals for 2020 are to figure out the direction I want my career to go and finally redesign my blog. What are your goals?
Below are my Top 10 Most Popular Recipes from 2019 as well as my Top 10 Personal Favorite Recipes. They’re essentially the same, but the order is different. Click the captions to see the recipes for each.
